General Eugene A. Carr Camp 05 of the Department of Florida Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) is dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of the heroes who fought and worked to save the Union during the American Civil War. Organized in 1881 and chartered by Congress in 1954, the SUVCW is the legal successor to the Grand Army of the Republic. Its mission is three-fold: Honoring Union Veterans, Preserving and Perpetuating the GAR, and Patriotic Education. The organization engages in various activities to honor Union veterans, preserve GAR memorials, and educate the public about the true history of the United States.
